In order to help strudents to make better sense of their research work, I decided to teach them the Vee diagram, which comes from Bob Gowin and Joe Novak (See for example their book \u300aLearning how to learn\u300b<\/a>) and it basically asks the following four questions in a diagrammatic way:
\n1. What is your direct observation of the event or the phenomenon?
\n2. What can be learned from the direct observation via methods and procefure of analysis?
\n3. What kind of knowledge claim can be made according to the analysis?
\n4. What kind of value claim can be made according to this analysis and the knowledge claim?<\/p>\n

Here is a discription of Vee diagram in the form of Vee diagram. <\/a><\/p>\n

Here is an example of Vee diagram using the phenomenon of a bowl of ice water heated over an alcohol lamp. This example is directly from the book \u300aLearning how to learn\u300b. I have to admit that I did not really do this experiment this time to check all the facts. Thus, please just use this as an example of Vee diagram.

BTW, those Vee diagrams are made in Cmaptools. You will need a V shape background picture<\/a> to make the V shape and the rest can be done using just concepts.<\/p>\n

Also when reading or writing up papers, it is a good idea to ask the following four questions, which I call WHWM:
\n1. What is the main message?
\n2. How the main message is constructed (from facts, examples, arguments, logic chains)?
\n3. Why this message, why construct it this way?
\n4. Meaningful to readers?<\/p>\n

\u4e3a\u4e86\u5e2e\u52a9\u5b66\u751f\u66f4\u597d\u5730\u601d\u8003\u548c\u89e3\u8bfb\u7814\u7a76\u7ed3\u679c\uff0c\u6211\u51b3\u5b9a\u6559\u7ed9\u5b66\u751f\u4eecV\u5f62\u56fe\u3002 V\u5f62\u56fe\u6765\u81ea\u4e8eBob Gowin\u548cJoe Novak\uff08\u4f8b\u5982\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u4ece\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u4e66\u300a\u5b66\u4f1a\u5b66\u4e60\u300b\u91cc\u9762\u770b\u5230\uff09\u3002\u57fa\u672c\u4e0aV\u5f62\u56fe\u7528\u4e86\u56fe\u5f62\u7684\u5f62\u5f0f\u95ee\u4e86\u4ee5\u4e0b\u56db\u4e2a\u95ee\u9898\uff1a
\n1. \u4ec0\u4e48\u662f\u4f60\u5bf9\u8fd9\u4e2a\u73b0\u8c61\u6216\u8005\u5bf9\u8c61\u7684\u7684\u76f4\u63a5\u89c2\u5bdf\u7ed3\u679c\uff1f
\n2. \u901a\u8fc7\u5bf9\u8fd9\u4e2a\u76f4\u63a5\u7ed3\u679c\u8fdb\u884c\u5206\u6790\u80fd\u591f\u5f97\u5230\u4ec0\u4e48\uff1f
\n3. \u4f9d\u636e\u8fd9\u4e2a\u5206\u6790\u7ed3\u679c\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u5728\u77e5\u8bc6\u7684\u5c42\u9762\u5f97\u5230\u4ec0\u4e48\u7ed3\u8bba\uff1f
\n4. \u4f9d\u636e\u77e5\u8bc6\u5c42\u9762\u7684\u7ed3\u679c\u548c\u5206\u6790\u53ca\u56fd\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u5f97\u5230\u4ec0\u4e48\u4ef7\u503c\u5224\u65ad\u5c42\u9762\u7684\u7ed3\u8bba\uff1f<\/p>\n

\u8fd9\u91cc\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u7528V\u5f62\u56fe\u7684\u5f62\u5f0f\u89e3\u91ca\u7684\u4ec0\u4e48\u662fV\u5f62\u56fe\u3002

\u8fd9\u91cc\u662f\u4e00\u4e2aV\u5f62\u56fe\u7684\u4f8b\u5b50\u3002\u5728\u8fd9\u91cc\uff0c\u6211\u7528\u4e86\u300a\u5b66\u4f1a\u5b66\u4e60\u300b\u91cc\u9762\u7684\u7ed9\u51b0\u6c34\u52a0\u70ed\u7684\u4f8b\u5b50\uff0c\u4f46\u662f\u6ca1\u6709\u771f\u7684\u505a\u5b9e\u9a8c\u548c\u89c2\u5bdf\u4e86\u6765\u68c0\u9a8c\u4e00\u4e0b\u6211\u5199\u4e0b\u6765\u7684\u4e8b\u5b9e\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e2a\u4f8b\u5b50\u4ec5\u4ec5\u662fV\u5f62\u56fe\u7684\u4f8b\u5b50\u3002\u4e0d\u8981\u592a\u6df1\u7a76\u5b9e\u9a8c\u73b0\u8c61\u3002

\u53e6\u5916\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e9bV\u5f62\u56fe\u90fd\u662f\u901a\u8fc7Cmaptools\u5236\u4f5c\u7684\u3002\u4e3a\u4e86\u5236\u4f5c\u5b83\u4eec\u4f60\u9700\u8981 \u4e00\u4e2aV\u5f62\u7684\u80cc\u666f\u56fe<\/a>\u6765\u5f53\u505a\u6982\u5ff5\u5730\u56fe\u7684\u80cc\u666f\uff0c\u5176\u4ed6\u7684\u90fd\u53ef\u4ee5\u901a\u8fc7Cmaptools\u7684\u6982\u5ff5\u6765\u5b8c\u6210\u3002<\/p>\n
